Psychotherapy Testimonials

Client

"I started my therapeutic journey with Romy almost five years ago and her gentle and patient energy has really helped me. She guided me through finding the tools to recover from my eating disorder and to heal childhood trauma. I’m in a place today where I feel more safe and at peace within myself and I can better deal with any hardships that come my way. I’m very lucky that I can still count on Romy today to help me navigate through new obstacles, always following whatever rhythm feels safe for me."

Client

"I started seeing Romy at the very beginning of my recovery journey and I cannot even express how much she has helped me in every aspect of my life. I first came to her very disconnected, lost and hopeless but her compassion, patience and unconditional support have tremendously helped me improve my life for the better. She is a lovely, calm and sweet person who has always successfully guided me through any issues I faced. She is also very knowledgeable and flexible as she always was open to exploring new avenues and methods when I felt stuck. I will forever be deeply grateful for her support, healing and care."

Client

"I have been struggling with an eating disorder since adolescence and my journey has been filled with hurdles and times where I just gave up. I worked with several therapists over the years and felt lost when my previous therapist left her practice. I was hesitant to start over, but trusting Romy was one of the best decisions I made.
Romy immediately brought depth, focus and care to our sessions. She has an effective approach through which she really taught me to listen to my body, taking the time needed to do it together during sessions. It was something I was told to do for years but it had remained a theoretical concept.
After two years, she continues to challenge me and remind me of who I want to be. We are working together to ensure that I don’t numb myself to life anymore!
I am deeply grateful to have met this wonderful spirit and so proud to call her my therapist. Thank you Romy!"

Client

"I started seeing Romy about 9 months ago after receiving a recommendation from a friend. Having received little therapy prior to this, Romy has made every step of the process of starting therapy extremely accessible and it’s become something I really look forward to. Her calm, compassionate, yet direct nature has enabled me to access areas of my life I didn’t think was possible and, with her help, I’ve begun to understand different aspects of my own behaviours in an entirely supportive environment at my own pace. I truly couldn’t thank her enough – It’s an absolute joy working with her and I couldn’t recommend her more highly."

Client

"After many years of treatments and therapy I must say Romy is the most skilled therapist I have ever encountered. I have been seeing Romy for a few months now and without a doubt each time she guides me to get deep inside to connect with my feelings, anxiety, trauma, etc. It’s difficult to find the right patient-therapist connection and couldn’t be happier to have finally find it."

Somatic Therapist (she/her) & participant of DEI reflective group
"I work alongside so many incredible women who are dedicating their lives and careers to creating positive change. Romy Wakil has developed the infrastructure necessary to provide safe spaces in which we can explore how to provide culturally competent care. This includes reflective spaces dedicated to exploring how to put anti-discriminatory work in action for both clients and the team, mandatory in house training and mobilising experts for specialist training on topics such as gender, sexuality, race and colourism. Romy has also set up free therapeutic spaces for asylum seekers and continues to share her expertise by providing psychoeducational workshops for charities who are working with individuals experiencing trauma. I witness Romy’s commitment to advocating for change and equality every day. The depth of her knowledge is mirrored by her thoughtfulness and care. I feel incredibly grateful to learn and grow alongside her."

Mental Health Therapist (he/him) & participant of DEI reflective group
"I found the group essential to my work as a therapist. I think it really highlighted how working as an anti-oppressive and anti-racist practitioner is crucial when supporting vulnerable people. What I found really important was that Romy was able to create a safe space for me to explore my own identity and how this relates to my client work. It also felt really important to hear how others view themselves. Overall I found the groups were an important part of my personal growth both as an individual and professional; plan to carry forward all that I learnt into different aspects of my life."

Nutritional therapist (she/her) & participant of DEI reflective group
"Unpacking our own biases and privileges is uncomfortable, but essential if we are truly holding health and wellbeing in mind. Romy creates a containing and brave space where one feels a sense of safety in being able to get it wrong in the process learning and unlearning. There are of course academic readings, but what I value most is the practical exploration which encourages you to go deeper and actively do the work in an embodied way.
Each session, I begin to acknowledge more of my blind spots and leave with an immense sense of gratitude and humility. The follow up action points to each session allow continuity and it’s interesting to witness themes permeate into every day noticings. I am so grateful for this space which I know is helping me to grow both professionally and personally and I couldn’t recommend Romy’s authenticity, gentleness, compassion and guidance more highly. I would urge anyone looking to do meaningful DEI work to seek out her support."

Support Worker (she/her) & participant of DEI reflective group
"DEI sessions held by Romy allowed me to discuss and express topics I normally avoid. I found tapping into those internal dialogues we have daily really give us the space to make us realise much more sits on the surface. Talking about our perceived identity made me think how much we hold day in and day out."
